In un momento molto piacevole, Elvis incita il suo dentista Max Shapiro a sposare la sua fidanzata, a Palm Springs e poi chiama Larry Geller ad ufficiare la cerimonia. Elvis si occupa degli anelli e Ginger fa da damigella d’onore. Elvis trae spunto per parlare della possibilità di sposare Ginger, in un prossimo futuro.

Elvis, Ginger e Rosemary tornano a Memphis.

20-01-1977
Felton Jarvis ha organizzato una nuova session di registrazione per Elvis, in un nuovo studio di Nashville: il Buzz Cansons Creative Workshop. La band è composta dalla band di Elvis, più Chip Young alla chitarra e Randy Cullers alle percussioni. Felton ritiene che in questo studio Elvis si sentirà come a casa, visto che qui hanno già lavorato molti musicisti. Joe Esposito chiama Felton per dirgli che Elvis non è ancora partito da Memphis, solo poche ore prima che scada il termine di affitto dello studio. L’intento era registrare

Finalmente Elvis arriva a Nashville, ma senza Ginger. Il ritardo è dovuto al fatto che Elvis ha perso tempo per convincere Ginger ad accompagnarlo. Dopo essersi registrato allo Sheraton South Hotel, Elvis rimane nella sua stanza lamentando mal di gola, mentre i musicisti lo stanno aspettando in studio. La verità è che Elvis non sta bene, perché Ginger non è con lui.

22-01-1977
Elvis arriva a casa a Memphis, senza nemmeno passare per lo studio, lasciando Felton Jarvis a completare le sovra incisioni, delle canzoni registrate a Graceland, in ottobre. Il resto della session viene cancellata.

26-01-1977
Elvis chiama il gioielliere, Lowell Heys per ordinargli un anello per Ginger, con l’intenzione di regalarglielo stasera stessa. Gli viene risposto che non c’è tempo a sufficienza per trovare un’altra pietra grande quanto il diamante del TCB. Heys convince Elvis a permettergli di togliere il diamante del suo anello, per metterlo in quello di Ginger. In tarda serata, nella stanza da bagno, Elvis offre l’anello di fidanzamento a Ginger, in ginocchio.

Il Nashville Banner pubblica un articolo di Billy Hance, nella colonna Wax Fax, in merito alla sospensione della session di registrazione. Rivela che Elvis è diventato paranoico ed ha paura a registrare e che “Ginger Alden lo sta letteralmente logorando”.

Elvis ha programmato una vacanza alle Hawaii per far conoscere le isole a Ginger.
Prima di partire, Elvis si occupa di varie cose d’affari, tra cui un prestito al Dr. Nick di $ 55.000, da rendere in 25 anni, ad un interesse del 7%. Questo prestito al Dr. Nick si aggiunge ad un altro precedente di $ 200.000, che Elvis gli ha fatto, libero da interessi.
Alle prime ore del mattino, Elvis firma il suo testamento, dove i testimoni sono Ginger Alden, Charlie Hodge e Ann,. La moglie di Beecher Smith.
Il testamento designa Vernon come esecutore testamentario, a cui viene data totale responsabilità per “la salvaguardia della salute, l’adeguato mantenimento e il benessere di se stesso, della nonna e di Lisa Marie, unica erede.

04-03-1977
Elvis e i suoi amici arrivano alle Hawaii per una vacanza e alloggiano all’ Hilton Rainbow Tower. Dopo due giorni Elvis e le sorelle Alden, insieme ad un paio di ragazzi si trasferiscono nella casa sulla spiaggia nella parte ovest di Oahu.

La canzone “Moody Blue” si posiziona al 31° posto della classifica in U.S.

06-03-1977 
Mentre è alle Hawaii, Elvis decide di affittare un casa sulla spiaggia a Kailua sul Kaapuni drive,

12-03-1977
Elvis è ancora alle Hawaii. Per oggi era stata programmata un’escursione all’ U.S.S. Arizona, ma della sabbia entra nell’occhio di Elvis e l’escursione viene cancellata.
Il Dr. Nick ha paura che Elvis possa aver leso la cornea e vuole che torni immediatamente a Memphis per tenerlo sotto controllo, almeno fino al tour, del mese prossimo.
Questo significa la fine della vacanza sia per Elvis che per il gruppo, che sono costretti a torna a casa. Però non prima che Elvis abbia comprato un regalo per tutti, come souvenir del viaggio. In seguito, Elvis racconterà a Larry Geller che il soggiorno gli è costato circa $ 100.000, aggiungendo “Che senso ha guadagnare il mondo se non puoi condividere la tua fortuna con i tuoi amici?”
Questa sarà l’ultima vacanza di Elvis.

A tarda sera, Billy riesce a svegliare Elvis e “caricarlo” sull’aereo che è in partenza per il secondo tour dell’anno e, questa volta, il Dr. Nick è costretto a fargli un’endovena. Pare che l’elemento psicologico determinante, sia l’assenza di Ginger.

Dopo la spiacevole session di registrazione a Graceland, di ottobre, e quella di gennaio a Nashville, che è stata cancellata, Felton Jarvis si ritrova ad essere senza materiale da dare alla RCA, per fare un nuovo album.
Felton decide di noleggiare un registratore a otto tracce e registra Elvis in questo tour. Poiché il repertorio nei concerti ed è già stato pubblicato più volte, Felton suggerisce ad Elvis le canzoni da cantare, ma nonostante questo, dal tour riesce ad estrarre solo una manciata di canzoni.
L’assenza di Ginger continua ad avere effetti sull’umore di Elvis.

Dopo il concerto Elvis, completamente distrutto, viene accompagnato all’aereo che lo condurrà a Memphis.
Felton Jarvis continua a registrare anche in questo show. Entrambi gli shows sono brevi ed Elvis appare molto stanco e incespica in alcune delle canzoni che ha sempre cantato. Ad esempio in “Can’t Help Falling In Love”, in un modo che sembra casuale, Elvis invece di cantare “Wise men say only fool rush in” (gli uomini saggi dicono che solo gli stupidi si tuffano nelle cose) sostituisce le parole “Wise men, When it’s time to go” (gli uomini saggi quando è arrivato il momento di andare)

31-03-1977 
Elvis inizia il concerto all’University Assembling Center, Baton Rouge, Louisiana, ma non riesce ad andare avanti perché sta male e durante l’intervallo, viene dato l’annuncio che è concerto è cancellato.
Elvis non è assolutamente in grado di continuare il tour, così vengono annullati anche i rimanenti tre giorni.
A questo punto, il Colonnello pianifica di aggiungere le date cancellate al prossimo tour.

Elvis torna a Memphis nelle prime ore del mattino. Prima va a Graceland e alle 6.45 viene ricoverato al Baptist Memorial Hospital di Memphis per influenza intestinale

Elvis è all’ospedale di Memphis per influenza intestinale
Il singolo “Moody Blue” si posiziona al 5° posto nella classifica U.K.

Mentre Elvis è all’ospedale di Memphis per influenza intestinale, il Colonnello sostituisce i quattro concerti cancellati, aggiungendo quattro date al 4° tour dell’anno

Alle 5 del mattino, Elvis viene dimesso dall’ospedale e più tardi Priscilla e Lisa Marie vanno a trovarlo a Graceland.

06-04-1977
Elvis esce dall’ospedale e torna nella sua casa di Graceland. Si sente bene, ma decide di tenere una camera riservata, in ospedale.

Alicia Kerwin was scheduled to go on the "tour that never was" with Elvis. 
Sadly, Alicia died of a drug overdose on March 12, 1991

Oggi, il Memphis Press-Scimitar pubblica una foto che mostra Joe Esposito, il Dr, Nick e Mike McMahon alla cerimonia del primo scavo al Medenhall and Mt Moriah di Memphis, il primo di due campi da raquetball che dovranno essere costruiti in quello che diventerà il Presley Center Courts, Inc.
Secondo quanto dice l’articolo il primo campo di raquetball dovrebbe aprire in settembre.
Questa è la prima iniziativa d’affari di Elvis, al di fuori del mondo dello spettacolo.
Il terreno per il Presley Center Courts Racquet Ball Club è stato acquistato a Memphis, Tennessee, con l’obiettivo di aprilo anche a Nashville e in altre città degli Stati Uniti.
